YAKIMA -- The Yakima Herald-Republic sports department is making a comeback of sorts.
After giving readers the most complete coverage in print of the prep sports in the Yakima Valley, we're expanding our game on the Internet, where we've been lacking for some time.
Beginning tonight our sports Web site at
sports.yakimablogs.com will have as much information -- if not more -- than our daily section.
We'll bring you video highlights of the 'big game' each Friday night this fall. Express scores -- with the final scores from games throughout the Valley and updated scores from the games we're staffing -- will be joined by standings and statistics that go a little deeper than those in print.
This fall, prep editor Scott Spruill will begin a blog to give high school sports fans the most up-to-date news and notes about their schools and others throughout the Yakima area.
We're also going to involve the readers with poll questions and possibly trivia contests on our weekly Prep Page.
It's our hope that this expanded coverage will keep the Yakima Herald-Republic your source for prep sports in the Yakima Valley.
