Ware -- 60 Years
Don and Betty Ware of Grandview celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 21.
Don Ware and Betty Fagg were married Aug. 21, 1948, in the garden of the bridegroom's parents, RJ and Verna Ware. They are lifelong area residents and are retired.
The couple has one son, Mark of Grandview, and two grandchildren.
Peters -- 50 Years
Doug and Marj Peters will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at Skamania Lodge hosted by their children.
Doug Peters and Marjorie Johnson were married Aug. 24, 1958, in Longview, Wash. They have lived in the Yakima area for 47 years.
Mrs. Peters is a homemaker.Mr. Peters is a retired lawyer.
The couple has four children, Rod Peters of Oregon City, Ore., Heather Magruder of Camas, Wash., Sally Gray of Portland and Dan Peters of Selah. They also have five grandchildren.
Lemke -- 40 Years
Bob and Cheryl Lemke of Yakima will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a cruise to Alaska this fall.
Bob Lemke and Cheryl Maier were married Aug. 24, 1968, at the Stone Church of Yakima. They have lived in the area for 60 years.
Mrs. Lemke is employed as an X-ray technician assistant for Warninger Chiropractic Clinic, and Mr. Lemke is employed as a mechanic for Coca-Cola.
The couple has two children, Brian Lemke of Newberg, Ore., and Jeff Lemke of Yelm, Wash. They also have four granddaughters.
Seibel -- 40 Years
Don and Kris Seibel of Yakima celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at a July 4-11 family gathering at Mayfield Lake and with a trip to Reno, Nev.
Don Seibel and Kris Fields were married Aug. 24, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church in Yakima. Mr. Seibel has lived in the area 43 years. Mrs. Seibel is a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Seibel is director of elementary education for the Yakima School District. Mr. Seibel is retired from the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The couple has four children, Bryce Seibel of Bellevue, Wash., Brandon Seibel of Tumwater, Wash., Tally Garcia of Wenatchee and Terra Sliger of Portland. They also have seven grandchildren.
Mantey -- 30 Years
Michael and Rita Mantey celebrated 30 years of marriage with a camping trip.
Michael Mantey and Rita Emerson were married Aug. 19, 1978, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
Mr. Mantey is a heating and air conditioning contractor. Mrs. Mantey is a secretary for the city of Yakima Fire Department. They reside in rural Moxee.
Parnell -- 60 Years
LaVon "Ted" and Patricia Parnell of Yakima celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 6 with a family dinner at their daughter's home in Seattle. They also celebrated with a trip to Tennessee.
LaVon Parnell and Patricia McBride were married July 7, 1948, in Wapato. They have lived in the area 65 years.
Mr. Parnell is a retired insurance agent and broker. Mrs. Parnell retired from Keeler's Medical Supply.
The couple had two children, the late Michael Parnell and Jane Leslie Shireman of Seattle. They also have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mercer -- 25 Years
Larry Mercer and D.J. Rowe Mercer celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Aug. 20.
Mr. Mercer is a retired contractor, and Mrs. Mercer is the retired owner of Rowe's Fashion Boutique.
The couple has five children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Hubert -- 55 Years
Al and Lavonda Hubert celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a trip to Boise, Idaho.
Al Hubert and Lavonda Uscola were married Aug. 22, 1953, in Rupert, Idaho.
Mr. Hubert served in the Washington Army National Guard and the Army for 40 years, retiring as a command sergeant major in 1992. He also worked for Huyler Construction and currently serves on the Toppenish City Council. Mrs. Hubert retired in 1994 as a dental assistant.
The couple has two daughters, Cindy (Hubert) Steinborn of Kennewick and Brenda Hubert of Toppenish. They also have one grandson.
Saul -- 50 Years
Mike and Kaye Saul of Yakima celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 26 during a garden party with family and friends. The event was hosted by their children.
Mike Saul and Kaye Jackson were married July 26, 1958, in Yakima. They have lived in the area more than 70 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul owned and operated 1040 Plus Inc.
The couple has three children, Lisa Bossert of Yakima, Eric Saul of New York and Jana Ortiz of Fremont, Calif. They also have three grandchildren.
Knobel -- 50 Years
Roger and Ellena Knobel of Yakima celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 2 with a family dinner at the Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips, Wash. The event was hosted by their children.
Roger Knobel and Ellena Heikell were married Aug. 30, 1958, at the Wapato Presbyterian Church. They have lived in the area 62 years.
Mr. Knobel is a retired Yakima Valley Community College math instructor.
The couple has two children, Roger Knobel of Mission, Texas, and Jill Smith of Tacoma. They also have four grandchildren and one late grandchild.
MacNeil -- 50 Years
Bob and Joann MacNeil celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at the home of Richard and Shannon Sevigny of Zillah. They also plan to celebrate with a trip to New England this fall.
Robert MacNeil and Joann Sater were married Aug. 30, 1958, at the Naches Presbyterian Church.
Mr. MacNeil is a retired professional civil engineer. Mrs. MacNeil retired from her preschool/day-care business.
The couple has two children, Shannon Sevigny of Zillah and Sean MacNeil of Seattle. They also have eight grandchildren.
Mears -- 30 Years
Blaine and Marilyn Mears of Sunnyside will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary this fall with a trip on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler Cruise and a stay at the Skamania Lodge.
Blaine and Marilyn Mears were married Aug. 26, 1978, at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Troy and Lois Mears. They are lifelong area residents.
Mr. Mears is an applicator for Blehyl Farm Service. Mrs. Mears is a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.
The couple has three children, Melanie Miller of Seattle, Desiree Verbrugge of Wapato and Tobias Mears of Kennewick. They also have three grandchildren.
Rowland -- 40 Years
Dick and Sandy Rowland of Yakima will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a cruise in November.
Dick Rowland and Sandy Scaman were married Aug. 17, 1968, in Yakima. They are lifelong area residents.
The couple has three children, Shelly Lizardi of Sahuanta, Ariz., and Angie Rowland and Amy Seely, both of Yakima. They also have four grandchildren.
Bowron -- 30 Years
Jerald D. and Toni C. Bowron will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to Lincoln City, Ore., this fall.
Jerald D. Bowron and Toni C. Leingang were married Aug. 26, 1978, at Randall Park.
Mr. Bowron is employed with the city of Union Gap's park maintenance department. Mrs. Bowron is the collection's manager for the Yakima County Treasurer's office.
Johnson -- 30 Years
Wesley and Leslie Johnson of Yakima will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip this fall.
They were married Aug. 26, 1978, in Yakima. They are lifelong area residents.
Mr. Johnson is a salesman in the food service industry. Mrs. Johnson works with at-risk youth in the community.
The couple has three sons, Justin of Boise, Idaho, and Tyler and Adam, both of Yakima. They also have four grandchildren.
Wilburn -- 25 Years
David and Juanita Wilburn of Yakima celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at Lake Chelan and golfing at Skamania Lodge with friends.
David Wilburn and Juanita Ramirez were married Aug. 27, 1983, at their home in Yakima. They are longtime area residents.
Mr. Wilburn is a medical technologist and Mrs. Wilburn is a cardiovascular technologist, both at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
The couple has four children, Benjamin Wilburn and Gabriel De Jesus, both of Yakima, Rebecca Mattson of Wenatchee and Peter Wilburn of Pullman, Wash. They also have three grandchildren.
