Insurance
Farmers Insurance Group has selected Yakima agents Wayne Leavitt and Gerry McGree for its Presidents Council. Leavitt and McGree were among 202 agents and district managers nationwide to earn the honor. They were selected on outstanding customer service, sales production and maintenance of high quality standards. Those selected had an opportunity to attend a conference with Farmers' senior management to learn and discuss key issues affecting customers and the insurance industry.
Medical
Central Washington Medical Group has hired Joseph DiMeo to practice at Terrace Heights Family Physicians. In addition to his practice, DiMeo will also serve as a faculty member at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. DiMeo, who attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine/NYIT in Old Westbury, N.Y., completed an internship and a family practice residency at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y.
Roy Matheson and Associates, a training and certification firm, has given occupational therapist Jon Harrison the Physical Capacity Evaluations certification and the Certified Work Capacity Evaluator designation. With this certification, Harrison, of Northwest Work Options, will be able to determine a worker's physical and functional abilities to prepare for a return to work. To receive the designation, Harrison had to complete a five-day certification course and complete subsequent fieldwork.
The Sunnyside Community Hospital has hired Jeanne Clark as its chief nursing officer. Clark comes to Sunnyside from the Tacoma area, where she spent the past 15 years in nursing and nursing administration.
Wellness House has hired several new staff members.
Barb Petrea has been hired as its interim executive director. Petrea has been a volunteer at Wellness House for the past seven years and has served on its board of directors.
Margaret Filkins has been hired as its development director. Filkins has extensive experience in fundraising and special event planning.
Eunice Koeppe has been hired as its community outreach liaison. Koeppe, a breast cancer survivor, will act as a connector for patients at North Star Lodge Cancer Center.
Lin Funkhouser has been hired as a community outreach liaison, connecting with patients at Washington Hematology and Oncology. She has been a caretaker for family members and friends with cancer.
Amy Zook has been hired as a client outreach and registered counselor. Zook has more than seven years experience as a certified life coach and counselor and will graduate soon from Washington State University. She has been an intern at Wellness House through the university's Human Development Internship Placement Program.
The Wellness House also has selected officers and board members for 2008. The board includes President Sandra Wells, Heritage University; Treasurer Thane Phelan, The Bull radio station; Secretary Marla Arbuckle, Poppoff Inc; Barry Bernfeld, doctor; Dave Dion, RBC Dain Rauscher; Gloria Dunn, Landmark Care Center; Kirk Ehlis, Menke, Jackson, Beyer, Elofson, Ehlis & Harper, LLC; Lars Hanson, John L. Scott Realty; Rick Fairbrook, John L. Scott Realty; Vicky Jones, doctor; Janice Richards, Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center; April Shattuck Mickles, retired; Lori Strosahl, Garfield Elementary; Jan Young, retired; and Chris Wright, retired.
Organizations
The Sunrise Rotary Club of Yakima has new officers and directors. New officers for 2008-2009 are Donna Sorensen, U.S. Bank, president; Rick Weaver, Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health, past president; Shane Pierone, KAPP-TV, president-elect; Ken Willms, The Dolsen Companies, treasurer; Pat Leahy, American Independent Marketing, secretary; and Tony Sagare, administrative secretary/treasurer.
New directors for 2008-2010 are Dave McFadden, New Vision; Del Miles, Covenant House; and Ken Irwin, Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
