Gas prices continue to drop to levels the area hasn’t seen in years.

Gas prices in the Yakima metropolitan area averaged $2.05 a gallon Thursday for unleaded regular, according to AAA. That’s a 22-cent decline from just one week ago and a big drop from $3.12, the local average a month ago.

The state average was $2.17 a gallon, while the national average was just a few cents below the local average at $2.02 a gallon.

According to GasBuddy.com, a Web site where users can report prices, drivers at several ARCO stations in Yakima were filling up for as low as $1.91 per gallon. And in Kittitas County, drivers were filling up at Ellensburg gas stations for as low as $1.85 a gallon for unleaded regular.
